Sien Savanh (lao-style Pork Ribs)
Sien Savanh is a traditional Lao dish featuring tender pork ribs marinated in a flavorful blend of herbs and spices. This dish is a perfect combination of savory and aromatic flavors, making it a favorite in Lao cuisine.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs pork ribs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp lemongrass, minced
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, black pepper, brown sugar, cilantro, and green onions to create the marinade.
- Place the pork ribs in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the ribs. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the marinated pork ribs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in water to cover the ribs, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, or until the meat is tender.
- Serve the Sien Savanh hot with steamed rice and enjoy!
