Sien Savanh (lao-style Pork Ribs)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork ribs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp lemongrass, minced
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, black pepper, brown sugar, cilantro, and green onions to create the marinade.
  2. Place the pork ribs in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the ribs. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the marinated pork ribs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in water to cover the ribs, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, or until the meat is tender.
  5. Serve the Sien Savanh hot with steamed rice and enjoy!
