시금치나물 (Sigeumchi Namul) is a classic Korean side dish made with blanched spinach seasoned with soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and sesame seeds. It's a healthy and delicious banchan (side dish) that pairs well with any Korean meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh spinach
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Blanch the spinach in the boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
- Drain the spinach and squeeze out excess water.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the blanched spinach, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, sugar, and black pepper. Toss until the spinach is well coated with the seasoning.
- Transfer the seasoned spinach to a serving dish and serve at room temperature or chilled.
