Silesian Beef Roulades (Roladki śląskie)
Roladki śląskie, or Silesian Beef Roulades, are a traditional dish from the Silesian region of Poland. These delicious beef rolls are filled with a savory mixture of bacon, pickles, and mustard, creating a perfect combination of flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 thin slices of beef (sirloin or flank steak)
- 4 slices of bacon
- 4 dill pickles, sliced lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- Place a slice of beef on a flat surface and season with salt and pepper.
- Place a slice of bacon, a few pickle slices, and a dollop of mustard on top of the beef.
- Roll up the beef, tucking in the sides to enclose the filling, and secure with toothpicks.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef rolls and brown on all sides.
- Remove the beef rolls from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened.
- Return the beef rolls to the skillet and pour in the beef broth.
- Cover and simmer for 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
- Remove the toothpicks before serving.
