Silesian Beef Roulades (Roladki śląskie)

Ingredients

  • 4 thin slices of beef (sirloin or flank steak)
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 4 dill pickles, sliced lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

  1. Place a slice of beef on a flat surface and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Place a slice of bacon, a few pickle slices, and a dollop of mustard on top of the beef.
  3. Roll up the beef, tucking in the sides to enclose the filling, and secure with toothpicks.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef rolls and brown on all sides.
  5. Remove the beef rolls from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened.
  7. Return the beef rolls to the skillet and pour in the beef broth.
  8. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
  9. Remove the toothpicks before serving.
