Silesian Beef Stroganoff (Stroganoff wołowy śląski)
Stroganoff wołowy śląski, or Silesian Beef Stroganoff, is a classic dish from the Silesian region of Poland. This hearty and flavorful dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Season the beef slices with salt and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the garlic and mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms are golden brown.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine.
- Pour in the beef broth and Dijon mustard, and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Return the beef to the skillet and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Stir in the sour cream and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Silesian Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.
