Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 lb farmer's cheese
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, water, egg, and salt. Knead the dough until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the farmer's cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract to make the filling.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out circles using a glass or cookie cutter.
- Place a spoonful of the cheese filling in the center of each circle, then fold the dough over and seal the edges to form a half-moon shape.
- Boil the pierogi in a large pot of salted water for 3-4 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- Remove the pierogi with a slotted spoon and serve hot with melted butter or sour cream.
