Silesian Sausage and Sauerkraut Skillet (Kiełbasa z kapustą śląską)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb kiełbasa sausage, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced kiełbasa and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage, sauerkraut, caraway seeds, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  5. Cover the skillet and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  6. Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.
