Sindhi Dal Makhani
Sindhi Dal Makhani is a rich and creamy lentil dish that originates from the Sindhi cuisine. It is a popular comfort food that is perfect for a cozy dinner at home.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole black lentils
- 1/4 cup red kidney beans
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup cream
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Wash and soak the black lentils and kidney beans overnight.
- Pressure cook the lentils and beans with salt until soft.
- Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions, ginger, and garlic. Sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in the tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Cook until the ghee separates.
- Add the cooked lentils and beans to the pan. Mix well and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Pour in the cream and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
