Sindhi Dal Pakwan Nachos

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 4-6 pakwan (crispy fried Sindhi bread)
  • 1 cup nacho chips
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Wash the chana dal and pressure cook with turmeric powder, salt, and 3 cups of water until soft.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes, green chili, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add the cooked dal to the tomato mixture and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  7. To assemble the nachos, place a layer of pakwan on a serving platter, top with a layer of nacho chips, and sprinkle grated cheese on top.
  8. Serve the dal alongside the nachos for dipping.
