Sindhi Kadhi Poha
Sindhi Kadhi Poha is a traditional dish from the Sindhi cuisine that combines the tangy flavors of kadhi with the fluffy texture of poha (flattened rice). It's a comforting and flavorful dish that is perfect for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch.
Ingredients
- 1 cup poha (flattened rice)
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp gram flour (besan)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the poha in a colander under running water and set aside to drain.
- In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt and gram flour until smooth. Add 2 cups of water and mix well to make the kadhi mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Sauté until the seeds crackle.
- Add chopped onion, green chili, and tomato. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Pour the kadhi mixture into the pan and add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes.
- Once the kadhi is cooked, add the rinsed poha to the pan and mix gently. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the poha is heated through.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
