Sindhi Kadhi Upma

Ingredients

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup semolina (sooji)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix gram flour, yogurt, and 4 cups of water to make the kadhi mixture. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Sauté until the seeds crackle.
  3. Add chopped onion and green chili. Sauté until the onion turns golden brown.
  4. Pour the kadhi mixture into the pan and add turmeric powder and salt. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  5. In a separate pan, dry roast semolina until it turns golden brown.
  6. Add 2 cups of water to the roasted semolina and cook until it thickens to make upma.
  7. Serve the kadhi and upma together, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
