Sindhi Kadhi Upma
Sindhi Kadhi Upma is a traditional dish from the Sindhi Cuisine that combines the tangy flavors of kadhi with the comforting texture of upma. This dish is a perfect blend of savory and sour flavors, making it a delightful meal for any time of the day.
Ingredients
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup semolina (sooji)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix gram flour, yogurt, and 4 cups of water to make the kadhi mixture. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Sauté until the seeds crackle.
- Add chopped onion and green chili. Sauté until the onion turns golden brown.
- Pour the kadhi mixture into the pan and add turmeric powder and salt. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- In a separate pan, dry roast semolina until it turns golden brown.
- Add 2 cups of water to the roasted semolina and cook until it thickens to make upma.
- Serve the kadhi and upma together, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
