Sindhi Koki Calzone
Sindhi Koki Calzone is a fusion dish that combines the traditional Sindhi flatbread, Koki, with the Italian calzone. This unique recipe brings together the flavors of Sindhi cuisine with a modern twist, creating a delicious and innovative dish.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh coriander, chopped
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, chopped onion, green chilies, fresh coriander, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Add water gradually and knead the mixture into a firm dough. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- Roll out each ball of dough into a small circle, similar to the size of a calzone crust.
- Spread a spoonful of pizza sauce on one half of each rolled-out dough circle, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce on each dough circle.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a semi-circle shape, and press the edges to seal the calzone.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and place the calzones on the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the Sindhi Koki Calzones from the pan and serve hot with additional pizza sauce for dipping.
