Sindhi Koki Calzone

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, chopped onion, green chilies, fresh coriander, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
  2. Add water gradually and knead the mixture into a firm dough. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  3. Roll out each ball of dough into a small circle, similar to the size of a calzone crust.
  4. Spread a spoonful of pizza sauce on one half of each rolled-out dough circle, leaving a small border around the edge.
  5. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce on each dough circle.
  6. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a semi-circle shape, and press the edges to seal the calzone.
  7. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and place the calzones on the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the Sindhi Koki Calzones from the pan and serve hot with additional pizza sauce for dipping.
