Sinigang Na Hipon

Sinigang na hipon is a traditional Filipino sour soup made with shrimp and vegetables. This tangy and savory dish is perfect for a comforting meal, especially during cold weather or when you're feeling under the weather.

Sinigang Na Hipon

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 tomatoes, quartered
  • 2 cups water spinach (kangkong)
  • 8 cups water
  • 3-4 tbsp tamarind soup base mix
  • 2-3 pieces green chili peppers
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add the onions and tomatoes, and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tamarind soup base mix and green chili peppers. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the shrimp and water spinach, and cook for another 5-7 minutes or until the shrimp is pink and cooked through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
