Siomay (steamed Dumplings)
Siomay is a popular Indonesian Chinese street food that consists of steamed dumplings served with peanut sauce. It's a delicious and healthy dish that can be enjoyed as a snack or a light meal.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb ground chicken
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup bamboo shoots, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup water chestnuts, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- 1/4 cup tapioca flour
- Wonton wrappers
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the ground chicken, shrimp, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and green onions. Pulse until finely chopped.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add the egg, salt, sugar, white pepper, and tapioca flour. Mix until well combined.
- Place a spoonful of the filling onto a wonton wrapper. Fold and seal the edges to form a dumpling.
- Steam the dumplings for 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve the siomay with peanut sauce.
