Sirnica (serbian Cheese Pie)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 lb feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and cold butter. Use your hands to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  3. In another bowl, mix the feta cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, sour cream, and milk until well combined.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Roll out one portion of the dough on a floured surface to fit the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread the cheese mixture over the dough.
  6. Roll out the second portion of dough and place it over the cheese mixture. Pinch the edges to seal the pie.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow the sirnica to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
