Slovak Bryndzové Pirohy (Bryndzové pirohy)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 lb bryndza (Slovak sheep cheese)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, egg, water, and salt to form a dough. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the bryndza and sour cream to create the filling.
  4. Place a spoonful of the bryndza filling onto each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges to form a half-moon shape.
  5. Boil the pirohy in salted water for 3-4 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
  6. In a separate pan, melt the butter and pour it over the cooked pirohy.
