Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 lb bryndza (Slovak sheep cheese)
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup butter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, egg, water, and salt to form a dough. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.
- In a separate bowl, mix the bryndza and sour cream to create the filling.
- Place a spoonful of the bryndza filling onto each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges to form a half-moon shape.
- Boil the pirohy in salted water for 3-4 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- In a separate pan, melt the butter and pour it over the cooked pirohy.
