Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 200g Slovenian cottage cheese
  • 200g sour cream
  • 100g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Boil the sliced potatoes in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, sour cream, mozzarella cheese, eggs, onion, and garlic.
  4. Grease a baking dish with butter and layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
  5. Pour half of the cheese mixture over the potatoes and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and cheese mixture.
  7. Dot the top with butter and cover the dish with foil.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
