Slovenski Goveji Stroganov (slovenian Beef Stroganoff)
Slovenski Goveji Stroganov, or Slovenian Beef Stroganoff, is a classic dish from Slovenian cuisine that features tender beef strips in a creamy sauce, served over a bed of pasta or rice. This hearty and comforting meal is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 500g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 200g mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
- Cooked pasta or rice for serving
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the same skillet. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their juices and become tender.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and stir in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Slovenian Beef Stroganoff over cooked pasta or rice, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
