Smoky Soutzoukakia (Καπνιστά σουτζουκάκια)
Καπνιστά σουτζουκάκια, or Smoky Soutzoukakia, is a traditional dish from Komi cuisine. These flavorful meatballs are infused with smoky aromas and are perfect for a cozy family dinner or a gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, grated
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, paprika, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs and set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.
- Once browned, add 1/2 cup of water to the skillet and cover. Simmer for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Remove the lid and let the sauce thicken for a few minutes.
- Serve the smoky soutzoukakia hot with your favorite side dishes.
