Ingredients
- 2 cups idli rice
- 1 cup urad dal (split black gram)
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the idli rice and urad dal separately and soak them in water for 4-6 hours.
- Grind the soaked rice and dal separately to a smooth batter, then mix them together with salt and fenugreek seeds.
- Ferment the batter overnight or for 8-10 hours until it doubles in volume.
- Grease the idli molds and pour the batter into each mold.
- Steam the idlis for 10-12 minutes until they are cooked through and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the idlis to cool slightly before removing them from the molds.
