Sombor Stew (Somborski Paprikaš)
Somborski Paprikaš, also known as Sombor Stew, is a traditional dish from Serbian cuisine that is rich in flavor and perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 red bell peppers, sliced
- 4 tomatoes, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp hot paprika (optional for extra heat)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until translucent.
- Add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the sweet paprika, hot paprika (if using), and minced garlic.
- Add the sliced red bell peppers and diced tomatoes to the pot.
- Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt and pepper.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour, or until the chicken is tender.
- Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.
