Sorrel Leaves Chutney (gongura Pachadi)
Sorrel Leaves Chutney, also known as Gongura Pachadi, is a popular dish in Telugu Cuisine. It is a tangy and spicy chutney made from fresh sorrel leaves, and it pairs well with rice, roti, or dosa.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh sorrel leaves
- 4-5 green chilies
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash the sorrel leaves and green chilies. Chop them finely.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds.
- Add the chopped sorrel leaves and green chilies. Sauté until the leaves wilt.
- Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool.
- Once cooled, grind the mixture along with grated coconut to a coarse paste.
- Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl.
- Enjoy the tangy and spicy sorrel leaves chutney with rice or any other dish of your choice.
