Ingredients
- 4 cups sorrel sepals
- 8 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1-inch piece of ginger, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 cup rum (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the sorrel sepals, water, sugar, cinnamon stick, ginger, and cloves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the sorrel mixture cool to room temperature.
- Strain the liquid into a pitcher and discard the sorrel sepals and spices.
- Stir in the rum, if using.
- Refrigerate the sorrel sensation until chilled, then serve over ice.
