Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Gradually add the cornmeal, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  3. Cook the mixture for 3-4 minutes until it thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese and salt until well combined.
  5. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes until it's easy to handle.
  6. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small sticks or logs.
  7. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
  8. Fry the sorullitos in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  9. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
