Sensación de Sorullitos, or Sorullitos Sensation, is a popular Puerto Rican dish made from cornmeal and cheese. These delicious fried corn sticks are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them a perfect snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
- Gradually add the cornmeal, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook the mixture for 3-4 minutes until it thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese and salt until well combined.
- Let the mixture cool for a few minutes until it's easy to handle.
- Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small sticks or logs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
- Fry the sorullitos in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
