Sosaties (spicy Beef Skewers)
Sosaties are a popular dish in Guinean cuisine, featuring spicy beef skewers that are perfect for grilling or cooking on the stovetop. The flavorful marinade and tender beef make these skewers a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs beef, cut into chunks
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup apricot jam
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, curry powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, coriander, onion, garlic, vinegar, apricot jam, salt, and pepper.
- Add the beef chunks to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the stovetop grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated beef chunks onto the soaked skewers.
- Grill the skewers for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Serve the sosaties hot with rice, couscous, or flatbread.
