Soup Dumplings (jhol Momo)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Knead the all-purpose flour with water to make a smooth dough. Roll the dough into small circles.
  3. Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold and seal the edges to form dumplings.
  4. In a pot, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the dumplings for 2-3 minutes. Add the chicken broth and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.
  5. Serve the soup dumplings hot in bowls, garnished with fresh cilantro.
