Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg pork spare ribs, cut into individual ribs
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp tauco (fermented soybean paste)
  • 3 Tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground white pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
  2. Add the pork spare ribs to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Stir in the tauco, kecap manis, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and ground white pepper. Mix well to coat the ribs.
  4. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1 hour or until the ribs are tender.
  5. Once the ribs are cooked, transfer them to a serving dish and garnish with chopped green onions.
