Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, sliced
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Add the tomatoes, carrots, and potatoes to the pot.
- Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt and pepper.
- Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 1 hour, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
- Adjust the seasoning if needed, then serve the spiced chicken stew hot.
