Spiced Lamb Koftas with Pomegranate Glaze (Kebab-e Barg)
Kebab-e Barg is a classic Mizrahi Jewish dish that features spiced lamb koftas with a delicious pomegranate glaze. This recipe is perfect for a special dinner or a festive gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 onion, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup pomegranate molasses
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground lamb, grated onion, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a long, thin kofta shape.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the koftas for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- While the koftas are cooking, heat the pomegranate molasses in a small saucepan over low heat until it becomes a thick glaze.
- Drizzle the pomegranate glaze over the cooked koftas and serve hot.
