ಟೊಮೇಟೊ ಬಾತ್ (Spiced Tomato Bath) is a classic dish from Udupi Cuisine that is bursting with flavors and spices. This dish is perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal, and it's easy to make at home!
Ingredients
- 2 cups of rice
- 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash the rice and cook it in a rice cooker or pot.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cooked rice to the tomato mixture and mix gently.
- Add grated coconut and mix well. Cook for a few more minutes.
- Spiced Tomato Bath is ready to be served hot!
