Spiced Tomato Bath (ಟೊಮೇಟೊ ಬಾತ್)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of rice
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and cook it in a rice cooker or pot.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds.
  3. Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add the cooked rice to the tomato mixture and mix gently.
  7. Add grated coconut and mix well. Cook for a few more minutes.
  8. Spiced Tomato Bath is ready to be served hot!
