Ingredients
- 4 large tomatoes, chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, slit
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the chopped tomatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, green chili, cumin seeds, black pepper, turmeric powder, tamarind paste, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Add salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve hot as a soup or with steamed rice.
