Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried yellow peas, soaked overnight
  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Drain the soaked yellow peas and pressure cook with salt until soft. Drain any excess water and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cooked yellow peas, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and shallow fry the patties until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
