Ingredients

  • 2 cups yellow peas, soaked overnight
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 12 ready-made samosa pastry sheets
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Boil the soaked yellow peas until tender, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
  3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Stir in the tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add the boiled yellow peas to the mixture and cook for a few minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  6. Take a samosa pastry sheet, fold it into a cone shape, and stuff it with the prepared yellow pea mixture. Seal the edges with a flour-water paste.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the stuffed pastries until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
