Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried yellow peas
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried yellow peas in water for 4-5 hours, then drain.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, sauté for a minute.
  4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  5. Add the turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add the drained yellow peas and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  7. Add water as needed and let it simmer until the peas are tender.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
