Spicy Banana Blossom (sambal Jantung Pisang)

Ingredients

  • 1 banana blossom, cleaned and sliced
  • 200g prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 4 shallots, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 red chilies, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the banana blossom by removing the tough outer layers and slicing it thinly.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a pan and sauté the shallots, garlic, and red chilies until fragrant.
  3. Add the prawns and cook until they turn pink.
  4. Add the sliced banana blossom, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Stir well to combine.
  5. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the banana blossom is tender.
  6. Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
