Spicy Bara (तातेको बारा)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups black lentils, soaked overnight
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Drain the soaked lentils and grind them into a smooth batter.
  2. Transfer the batter to a bowl and add chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  4. Spoon the batter onto the pan to form small pancakes and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Remove the bara from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with achar (pickle) or yogurt on the side.
