Spicy Beef Suya Skewers (Brochettes de Bœuf Suya Pimentées)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup (60g) ground peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (15g) paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) ginger powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
  • 4 wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground peanuts, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger powder, and salt to make the suya spice rub.
  2. Thread the beef cubes onto the soaked skewers, then brush them with vegetable oil.
  3. Coat the beef skewers with the suya spice rub, pressing the spices onto the meat to adhere.
  4. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the skewers for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove the skewers from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
