Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 pear, grated
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
  • 4 cups (960ml) steamed rice
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, grated pear, sesame oil, and gochujang to make the marinade.
  2. Add the sliced beef and onion to the marinade, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  4. Divide the steamed rice among serving bowls and top with the cooked bulgogi. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
