ГӀулхираш (Spicy Cheese Bread) is a traditional dish from Chechen cuisine that combines the rich flavors of cheese and the kick of spicy peppers in a delightful bread.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 2-3 spicy peppers, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and use your fingers to rub it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheese and chopped spicy peppers.
- Add the milk and mix until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it gently a few times.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
