Spicy Chicken Karahi

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a karahi or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  3. Then add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
  5. Add chicken pieces and cook until they change color.
  6. Stir in chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and oil separates.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
