Spicy Chicken Skewers (Tavuk Şiş)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 large onion, cut into chunks
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, black pepper, and salt to create the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the plain yogurt and lemon juice to create the sauce. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Thread the marinated chicken, onion, and bell peppers onto the soaked skewers, alternating the ingredients.
  6. Grill the skewers for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are charred and tender.
  7. Serve the Tavuk Şiş hot off the grill with the yogurt sauce on the side.
