Spicy Choila Bhatmas (तातेको चोयला भटमास)
तातेको चोयला भटमास (Spicy Choila Bhatmas) is a traditional Newari dish that is popular in Nepal. It is a spicy and flavorful dish made with marinated grilled meat and crispy soybeans, perfect for a delicious appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup soybeans (bhatmas)
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- 4-5 dried red chilies
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Boil the soybeans until they are crispy, then drain and set aside.
- Marinate the chicken pieces with mustard oil, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat a grill pan or stovetop grill and grill the marinated chicken until cooked through and slightly charred.
- In a separate pan, heat mustard oil and fry the dried red chilies until they turn dark.
- Add the grilled chicken to the pan and stir-fry for a few minutes.
- Add the crispy soybeans to the chicken, mix well, and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
