तातेको चोयला भटमास (Spicy Choila Bhatmas) is a traditional Newari dish that is popular in Nepal. It is a spicy and flavorful dish made with marinated grilled meat and crispy soybeans, perfect for a delicious appetizer or snack.

Spicy Choila Bhatmas (तातेको चोयला भटमास)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup soybeans (bhatmas)
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • 4-5 dried red chilies
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the soybeans until they are crispy, then drain and set aside.
  2. Marinate the chicken pieces with mustard oil, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat a grill pan or stovetop grill and grill the marinated chicken until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. In a separate pan, heat mustard oil and fry the dried red chilies until they turn dark.
  5. Add the grilled chicken to the pan and stir-fry for a few minutes.
  6. Add the crispy soybeans to the chicken, mix well, and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
