Spicy Dhokla Delight

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon green chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon eno (fruit salt)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric, ginger paste, green chili paste, sugar, lemon juice, and salt. Add water gradually to make a smooth batter.
  2. Grease a steaming dish and pour the batter into it. Steam for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  3. Once steamed, let it cool for a few minutes and then cut into squares.
  4. For tempering, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add sesame seeds, green chilies, and sauté for a minute.
  5. Pour this tempering over the steamed dhokla squares and garnish with chopped cilantro.
