Spicy Dhokla Delight
Spicy Dhokla Delight is a traditional Gujarati snack that is savory, spicy, and full of flavor. This steamed cake is made from fermented rice and chickpea flour, and is seasoned with a variety of spices to create a delicious and satisfying dish.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chickpea flour
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon green chili paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon eno (fruit salt)
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric, ginger paste, green chili paste, sugar, lemon juice, and salt. Add water gradually to make a smooth batter.
- Grease a steaming dish and pour the batter into it. Steam for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once steamed, let it cool for a few minutes and then cut into squares.
- For tempering, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add sesame seeds, green chilies, and sauté for a minute.
- Pour this tempering over the steamed dhokla squares and garnish with chopped cilantro.
