Spicy Fish Curry

Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Sauté until the seeds crackle.
  2. Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  6. Add coconut milk and bring the curry to a gentle simmer.
  7. Gently add the fish pieces and cook for 8-10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.
  8. Adjust the seasoning and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
