Ingredients
- 500g fish fillet, sliced
- 3-4 slices ginger
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp Sichuan peppercorns
- 2 tbsp chili bean paste
- 4 cups fish or chicken broth
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Water, as needed
Instructions
- In a pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the Sichuan peppercorns, ginger, and green onions. Stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the chili bean paste and continue to stir-fry for another minute.
- Pour in the fish or chicken broth, soy sauce, Chinese cooking wine, and sugar. Bring to a boil.
- Add the fish fillet slices and simmer for 5-8 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- Adjust the seasoning with salt and add water if needed to adjust the consistency of the soup.
- Serve hot and garnish with additional green onions if desired.
