Spicy Fried Cauliflower (Málà Xiāngjiāo)

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3-4 dried red chilies, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Sichuan peppercorns
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the dried red chilies and Sichuan peppercorns to the wok and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the cauliflower florets to the wok and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes until they start to brown.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic, soy sauce, sugar, and salt, and continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the cauliflower is tender.
  5. Transfer the spicy fried cauliflower to a serving dish and garnish with chopped green onions.
