Spicy Goat Curry (Bhuna Khashir Rezala) is a traditional dish from Sylheti Cuisine that is known for its rich and flavorful taste. This slow-cooked curry is made with tender goat meat and a blend of aromatic spices, creating a mouthwatering dish that is perfect for special occasions or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 kg goat meat, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 4-5 tablespoons mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the goat meat with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Let it sit for 1 hour.
- Heat mustard oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add the chopped onions. Cook until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the marinated goat meat to the pan and cook on medium heat until the meat is browned and the oil separates from the masala.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the meat simmer until it is tender.
- Add green chilies and garam masala, and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
