Ingredients

  • 2 cups gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and salt.
  2. Add water gradually and knead the mixture into a stiff dough.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Using a sev maker or a chakli press, press the dough into the hot oil in a circular motion to form noodles.
  5. Fry the noodles until they turn golden and crispy.
  6. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Let them cool and store in an airtight container.
