Spicy Hyderabadi Mutton Curry
Spicy Hyderabadi Mutton Curry is a flavorful and aromatic dish from the royal city of Hyderabad, known for its rich and spicy cuisine. This dish is a perfect blend of tender mutton pieces cooked in a spicy and tangy gravy, infused with the traditional flavors of Hyderabadi spices.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, pureed
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp oil
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes. Then, add the mutton pieces and cook until they turn brown.
- Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the mutton. Cook for a few minutes, then pour in the water and bring to a boil.
- Cover and simmer for about 45-50 minutes or until the mutton is tender and the gravy thickens.
- Sprinkle garam masala, green chilies, and fresh coriander leaves. Cook for another 5 minutes and remove from heat.
- Spicy Hyderabadi Mutton Curry is ready to be served hot with steamed rice or naan.
