Spicy Kachila (तातेको कचिला)
तातेको कचिला (Spicy Kachila) is a traditional Newari dish that is popular in Nepal. It is a spicy and flavorful salad made with marinated buffalo meat, spices, and herbs.
Ingredients
- 500g buffalo meat, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- 2 tbsp roasted soybean powder
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
- 1 lemon, juiced
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the buffalo meat with mustard oil, roasted soybean powder, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Let it marinate for 1 hour.
- Heat a pan on the stovetop and add the marinated buffalo meat. Cook on low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the meat is tender.
- Once the meat is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and let it cool to room temperature.
- Add green chilies, red onion, fresh coriander, fresh mint, and lemon juice to the cooked meat. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- तातेको कचिला (Spicy Kachila) is ready to be served. Garnish with additional fresh herbs if desired.
