Spicy Korean Jajang Chicken (짜장치킨)
짜장치킨 (Spicy Korean Jajang Chicken) is a popular Korean Chinese dish that combines the rich and savory flavors of jajangmyeon sauce with crispy fried chicken. This dish is perfect for those who enjoy a little kick of spice in their meals.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup potato starch
- 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup jajangmyeon sauce
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels, then coat them evenly with potato starch.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken thighs until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a separate saucepan, combine the jajangmyeon sauce, gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Toss the fried chicken thighs in the spicy jajang sauce until evenly coated.
- Transfer the coated chicken to a serving plate and garnish with sliced green onions.
